When did you first discover your artistic tendencies and who in your life encouraged your creativity?
AD: I first discovered my artistic tendencies in my junior year of high school, when I took a jewelry making course. That teacher encouraged my creativity; I owe her everything!
CM: I have enjoyed creating since I was very young. Anytime there was a birthday or holiday that involved gift-giving, I always made some sort of handmade jewelry as a present. My mom has always been very artistic in multiple mediums, and has encouraged and instilled that in me. She led me to be a jewelry designer before I even knew that could be a career!
DP: My dad knew I had a creative side right off the bat. He realized I loved to create when I chose building a tower out of toothpicks over playing with Barbies. He's the person who introduced me to woodworking, painting, and photography.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job at Lucky Brand? The most challenging?
JH: The most rewarding part is when you run into someone who is wearing and loving pieces you've designed. The most challenging part is finding a balance between staying true to the brand aesthetic while creating something new, exciting, and different each season.
ADP: The most rewarding part of my job here is seeing items we love actually in the store, and seeing people on the street wearing them in their everyday lives! The most challenging is when we fall in love with a sample or a new idea, but then it doesn't make it into the final assortment.
DP: Most rewarding part is being creative in a world full of product that I love, and the most challenging is consistently trying to one up myself with my own ideas.

What do you enjoy designing the most?
BP: Belts with a lot of embroidery patterns can be fun to design. Picking out layouts and colors, and then seeing it all come to life from the computer sketch to sample form is always exciting.
DP: Jewelry has alway been my first love and passion. I love working with scale, unique materials, and offering a product that can complete any outfit.
JH: I enjoy designing scarves and kimonos because these are truly the ideal third element of a complete outfit. I love playing with different layouts and color combos. This category allows for a lot of creativity which, as a designer, this part of the process really gets my brain flowing - but in a good way!
ADP: My favorite part of designing accessories is that we have so many categories to work with, which means using lots of different materials—from leather to metal to soft, drapey fabrics. I love working with leather and also print and embroidery design, so handbags, belts, and scarves / kimonos are probably the most fun for me.

How would you style a casual denim look versus a dressier denim outfit?
AD: A casual jeans look will counterintuitively involve more jewelry! If I'm going dressier, I will refine my jewelry to a few key pieces.
CM: For a casual jean look, I would usually wear a basic or graphic tee tucked in the front, easy jewelry, and a bootie. For a dressier look, I would add a blazer, heels or heeled booties, and more of a statement jewelry look.
BP: Jeans and a vintage t-shirt is usually my go to everyday look. For dressier, I usually pair it with a feminine blouse.

How would you describe our new mid-rise Authentic Straight?
AD: I would describe the new Authentic Straight as a comfortable high-rise jean, fitted from the waist to the mid-thigh with a straight leg. They're a little cropped on me, but that's what happens when you're 6 feet tall!
CM: An easy to wear, everyday jean.
BP: A comfortable rise and modern "skinny jean."
DP: Casual, but easy to dress up.
JH: The Authentic Straight hugs you in all the right places. I love the high-waisted fit that makes you feel like everything is being held in. The length is perfect—this is a big factor for me because I always end up cutting the bottom of my jeans to fit my height. I also love the exposed buttons, which makes this particular pair different from all the jeans I currently own.
ADP: The Authentic Straight is super comfortable and really easy to pair with items already in my wardrobe. It has a nice amount of stretch but isn't super tight, so it has a relaxed fit that still feels put together.
